AutumnsList Conception: Below are some simple answers about AutumnsList and how it came to be.
Why was AutumnsList made?
I, (Mark) actually started this site as a hobby to give my family a place to share pictures and stuff. I decided to open it up to the public as an alternative social community, because quite frankly all the sites out there in my opinion have failed when it comes to our privacy. AutumnsList is all about being able to share your pictures, vids, etc. without having to worry about things you "like" being harvested for advertisement purposes or any other purpose than what they need to be for.
I just didn't like where the mainstream social networks were going, so I created a place that to me is a safer place to share your personal stuff. From that I have put together different applications, components, etc. that are fun and useful for everyone to use. There will be no other site like it on the internet, because I will put your Privacy concerns before the dollar! No kidding.
My main focus now is privacy and making it easy to use the privacy features. I believe you could have a million privacy settings for your users, but if they are confusing and don't tell users what they do, well then, they are pretty much useless! I see many websites that do this and to me I believe they do it on purpose! Why? It's simple, the more information of yours that they can keep public means the better they can target those advertisers at you!
Yes, we do use targeted advertising too, but we only use things that are very general, like male/female or the country you live in, etc. You can see exactly what we use at any time just by simply visiting the create an ad page and fill in a few things and see for yourself.
Why the name AutumnsList?
1. AutumnsList is named after the CEO's daughter, Autumn 
2. The site was going to be composed of a list of features, so we naturally decided to call it AutumnsList. Sometimes simple things just make sense!
Why is our site different from all the rest?
With all the privacy issues on other community sites out there, we have decided to take a very different approach to your privacy when you join our community. Instead of an opt-out privacy mentality where your profile and all it's information is out there for all the world to see until you can figure out the privacy features, We have done just the opposite! Read more below to see what we mean.
We believe you should be able to opt-in when you are ready to share your information with others.
So from the beginning your Profile page is set to Private!
For instance, when you first join the AutumnsList Community you don't have to worry about what info is displayed to the world, because all of your information is private by default (except for your profile picture and your username). This gives you time to adjust your privacy settings to your liking and at your own pace.
When your ready to share your information all you have to do is visit your privacy settings located under the "Account" tab and set the main profile setting to public or keep it private, the choice is always yours. All your information on your profile page can also be fined tuned when you edit your profile page, just click on each privacy lock next to each field and choose the level of sharing you want.
You can also control your privacy further by clicking the little security icon on each Application tab under the "My Applications" menu. (Note: the application has to be "Added" to your profile page first)

AutumnsList Focus:
Other sites are more focused on making money and putting your privacy last! Although we need money to keep AutumnsList alive and updated, we are more focused on what others think, how easy it is to navigate through our links and most of all - what can we do to make the site safer and more enjoyable for everyone. That's why we take a community vote when we are about to make changes that would effect the whole community. That's right, we give the community the power to choose.
